Clear Aligners in Clairemont, CA
Straighten your teeth with SureSmile®, our clear aligner treatment of choice, built around your smile instead of a mouth full of metal.
What Are Clear Aligners and How Do They Work

Clear aligners are a set of custom trays that gradually move your teeth into place. There are no metal brackets and no wires. You simply wear a series of clear trays, each one slightly different from the last, and your teeth shift a little more with every new set.
At Clairemont Dentistry, our clear aligner treatment of choice is SureSmile®. We start with a digital scan of your smile, so there is no messy putty involved. From that scan, we build out your SureSmile® treatment plan and order a full set of aligners made specifically for your teeth. You will wear each set for one to two weeks before moving on to the next, and your smile keeps moving toward the final result with every switch.

How We Plan Your SureSmile® Treatment

Your SureSmile® treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth, taken with a handheld scanner instead of the old putty trays. That scan gives us a detailed, three dimensional picture of your mouth, which we use to map out how your teeth will move from where they are now to your finished smile.
Before we order a single tray, your dentist walks through exactly how each tooth will shift at every stage of treatment. We chose SureSmile® as our clear aligner system because the trays are made from a flexible, clear material designed to apply steady, gentle pressure without irritating your gums or cheeks. Each set is worn for about one to two weeks before you move to the next, so your teeth shift gradually and predictably the whole way through.
Everything You Need to Know Before You Start
Whether you're coming in for the first time or just want to understand what's involved, this section covers the most common questions patients ask before booking. We want you to feel informed and confident before you ever sit in the chair.
Can people tell I'm wearing clear aligners?
Not usually. The trays are made from clear plastic and fit closely over your teeth, so most people will not notice you have them in unless they are looking closely.
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
It depends on your smile, but most people finish treatment somewhere between six and eighteen months. You will likely notice small changes within the first few weeks.
Do clear aligners hurt?
You might feel some pressure for a day or two after switching to a new tray, but most patients find it far more comfortable than traditional metal braces.
Can I eat and drink normally with clear aligners?
You will want to take your aligners out before eating or drinking anything besides water. This keeps them clean and helps you avoid cracking or staining them.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Your SureSmile® journey starts with a digital scan of your teeth using a handheld scanner. There are no impressions or putty trays involved. The scan only takes a few minutes and gives us a precise picture of your mouth that we use to plan your entire treatment. In some cases, your dentist can even show you a preview of how your smile is expected to change.
Once your SureSmile® aligners are ready, we will send you home with your first few sets and walk you through how to wear and care for them. You will wear each set for about one to two weeks before switching to the next one. They fit snugly and feel like light, steady pressure as your teeth shift into place. You will come back in for periodic check ins so your dentist can track your progress and hand you your next sets of aligners.
